Parent meeting 2025

Thank you for attending!

A heartfelt thank you to all parents and guardians who attended the parent meetings for Vg1 and Vg2 on Wednesday, September 3rd.

It was really nice to meet you and share some information about the school, rules and routines, as well as subjects and classes.

For those of you who would like to review the presentation again, you can find it here:

The new rules for admission to higher education have now been adopted.

There will be fewer additional points and the age limit for first-time diplomas will be increased to 23 years. It will still be possible to improve grades from upper secondary school. The most important changes will only apply from the academic year 2028–29. This means that students who started upper secondary school this fall are the first cohort to receive points under the new rules.

Here are the most important changes.

Admission 2028/2029:

  • The first-time diploma quota is increased from 50 to 65%, and the age limit for competing in this quota is increased from 21 to 23 years.

  • The additional points for science subjects are halved. This means that subjects that gave 0.5 points now give 0.25 points, and subjects that gave 1 point (only R2 and Physics 2) now give 0.5 points. Science points are now the only points a student can get.

  • Additional points for foreign languages will be removed. Currently, program subjects for foreign languages give 0.5 (level 2) and 1 point (level 3).

  • Additional points for age, folk high school, and higher education are removed (ordinary quota).

  • Additional points for first-time military service are halved from two to one point (ordinary quota).

We greatly appreciate the cooperation and look forward to a good school year with you and our students! If you have any questions afterwards, you are always welcome to contact us.

Best regards,
Beate, Siren and Kjartan
