Right in the center of Bergen

Metis High School is located at Lars Hilles gate 17, in the heart of Bergen. Within a three-minute walk you are in the middle of Bergen city center, at the train station or at the City Station (with continuous Light Rail and bus departures).

Block days - one subject per day

As a student at Metis High School, you will experience a different school day. You will generally only have one subject per day, so-called block days. The school has block days in most subjects, but in the subjects math, foreign language and physical education there are half days. With block days, the students get time and peace to immerse themselves in the subjects and it gives the school a unique opportunity to also move parts of the teaching out of the classroom. We are good at making use of everything Bergen city has to offer, for example in the areas of theater, cinema, museum and local business.

A safe and good learning environment

All students have the right to a safe and good learning environment. At Metis, safety and well-being are in focus, and we know that it is one of the most important framework factors for learning to take place.

When starting at Metis, we take plenty of time to get to know each other. Students are assigned their own mentor who follows up closely throughout the school year. Students meet their mentor on the first day of school. The mentor will be the student's supporter and conversation partner throughout the school year. Students themselves say that they are satisfied with the school's learning culture, academic challenges and well-being (Student Survey 2023, Udir) .

Metis is part of the MOT program, and works every day to prevent social challenges and exclusion among children and young people. The goal is to build an inclusive classroom and school environment, as well as increase young people's awareness of their own choices and opportunities.

The door to Assistant Principal Siren and Principal Kjartan is also always open. Get in touch and we'll take care of most things!
