For you who

Wants general study skills

Want to enter higher education

Have completed vocational courses Vg1 and Vg2 or have completed a vocational certificate

Want a creative and diverse classroom environment

May - former student at Påbygg

At Metis High School, we organize our teaching so that you have one subject each day. For those of you who come from other high schools, this may be unfamiliar, but the students who attend us find it a great advantage to be able to concentrate on one subject at a time.

Completed vocational courses and ready for higher education

You can apply for Vg3 supplementary education after you have completed and passed Vg1 and Vg2 in a vocational education program, or you can apply for Vg4 supplementary education after you have achieved vocational competence with a trade certificate/journeyman's certificate, or diploma. You can apply for supplementary education until the end of the year you turn 24. In supplementary education, you take the subjects you need to obtain general university entrance qualifications, and thus acquire the knowledge and competence required for higher education.

Have you completed a vocational program and found that you want to continue your studies at a college or university? Is general university entrance qualification your goal? Then you should apply for additional studies.

From different backgrounds

You can apply for additional studies at Metis Upper Secondary School regardless of which school you attended in Vg2. Here, you will meet students who have studied service and transport, health and early childhood education, electrical engineering and similar subjects. Additional studies give you general study qualifications and thus a basis for applying to most study programmes at colleges and universities in Norway.

Sindre - former student at Påbygg

Interview with Kine

Kine chose Påbygg after two years in Sales, Service and Tourism to gain general study qualifications.

What major did you study before you started at Påbygg?

I studied Sales, Service and Tourism in Vg1 and specialized in Sales and Tourism in Vg2. I did an internship at Carlings in Vg1 and in the marketing department at Metis in Vg2. In internships, you get useful and relevant experience that you will definitely use in the future.

Why did you choose Påbygg?

I chose to go to Påbygg because I want to have general study qualifications. Then I can study whatever I want later. I don't necessarily want to work in sales and tourism for the rest of my life, and therefore want to have all opportunities open to me with the help of my study qualifications.

What is a typical school day like for you?

In the supplementary course we have 10 hours of Norwegian, and programming is a good break from everyday life. I have marketing as a programming subject. It's exciting because I want to delve into this later.

How do you enjoy yourself at Metis?

I really enjoy Metis. There is a very good environment among the students, and it is easy to make friends. We have classes with the other extension class from time to time, and that means that we also get to know each other across the classes. The environment at the school is very good, the students are very inclusive, which makes you feel safe. There are nice students across the grades and educational programs, which also means that you meet familiar, kind eyes in the hallways.

What do you want to do when you finish your studies?

When I finish my studies, I will first have a year off before I study marketing. After I finish my studies, I will work as a marketer for a few years before I study pedagogy. When I finish that, my goal is to become a marketing teacher at Metis Videregående. Of course, my dream is to also work in marketing here!

How was the transition from Sales and Tourism to Påbygg?

There was a transition from a lot of practical work in Sales, Service and Tourism to more theoretical subjects in the Superstructure.

Do you have any tips for new students?

Focus a little on the social side and not just the theoretical. Pay attention in class and you won't have to study so hard for the tests. Be yourself!

What's the best thing about Metis?

The best thing about Metis is definitely the teachers. They facilitate, listen to what the students have to say and have good follow-up of their students via our mentoring scheme. And it's really good that we are centrally located in the city center, we are a short walk to shops and food!
