Opinion about Sales, service and tourism

Do you want to work in security, marketing, sales, tourism, hotels, reception, or do you dream of starting your own business? Here at our company, we call the new education program Business – because that is exactly what we will teach you to do.

Valuable work experience

The business community is looking for young people who are enterprising and skilled in service, security, sales and tourism. With us, we take vocational training seriously, and you learn about all aspects of the service industry, which after two years gives you the opportunity for an apprenticeship and a certificate or a good foundation before further studies in areas such as marketing, economics and security. We provide you with good and relevant training in line with developments in the industries and follow you closely on the way to achieving your goal!

Exciting projects

We focus on you having fun while you learn! We work on exciting projects and with the learning material in creative ways. Do you want an exciting school year with a focus on practice, career and professional life? Then Business is the right choice for you.

Collaboration with the business community

We have good contacts in the business community, and actively use companies to make the teaching more practical and realistic.

Many more opportunities

By choosing Business, you can undertake an apprenticeship in many different professions and industries, including tourism, sales, service and administration or security. You can also take additional courses in Vg3, or after the apprenticeship, to gain general study qualifications. You can then study further at a college or university.

Helene about Sales, service and tourism

Helene wants to work in administration and therefore chose Sales, Service and Tourism.

Why did you choose Sales, Service and Tourism (Business)?

I wasn't sure what I really wanted to be, but I knew I wanted to be something in sales. Here at Metis, the teachers are great and they really care about their students. That's important to me and was the reason I wanted to go here.

How was the first day of school?

It was exciting! I was of course nervous, but it quickly passed. The teachers wish you a warm welcome. We went on a trip to Dyrkolbotn the second week and here we had many different activities and got to know each other well. It really helped the environment!

What do you learn about in Business?

In the first semester of Vg2 we take both safety and tourism. Then we get to try both, and in the last semester we can delve into either safety or tourism. I want to be a car salesman or real estate agent when I finish Metis, so it's nice to try a few different things during the school year!

What is a typical school day like for you?

It varies a lot. We have block days, which means we have one subject all day. My class goes on company visits a lot and the school is good at using the city. We also get a lot of visits from companies at school. After the autumn holidays, the whole class will join the Armed Forces and work with the administration there. We will go to Haakonsvern and the other bases in Bergen. We will be there for three weeks. It will be exciting! We could choose between internships or going to the Armed Forces. This tempted me the most and I am really looking forward to it! We can also take security guard training through the school, and I will take it.

What's the best thing about Metis?

It must be the teachers. They care about us and they help if there is anything. It's nice to always have them on your side.

How was the transition from middle school to high school?

It was quite big, but it really helped with the trip we had to Dyrkolbotn. Here we got to know each other and we have a lot of group assignments in Business. That way we get to know each other extra well.

Do you have any good tips for new students?

  • Don't be afraid.

  • You will feel welcome.

  • Face the day with a smile – you always get a smile back and it can easily make your day.
