Host School: St Benedict College Secondary School
Participants from Metis: four students from 3 STa, Sunniva Heggelund-Morken, Celine Hartwall-Olsen, Karoline Sæle Einevoll, Daniel Sundal Dolietis and two teachers Eva Hadler Borge, Silje Rykkje and principal Kjartan Navarsete
Collaboration theme: Inclusion and diversity, human rights
Each partner school worked on different sub-topics and prepared a presentation to be shared in Malta.
The students from Metis worked on the following theme: Comment on stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination.
Although Norway is among the countries that protect human rights the most, the UN believes that human rights violations are also committed in Norway in various areas. The Metis students worked on the theme "Identity and Human Rights" and created a digital poster/e-book that they presented in Malta.
The host school organized several cultural activities for the partner schools:
1. Tour of Medina
2. A day trip to Gnejnabukta and lunch on the beach
3. Tour of the capital Valletta and visit to the YMCA, an organization that helps homeless young people in Malta.
4. Morning trip to the Blue Cave
The host school also organized a lecture from the Directorate of Human Rights in Malta.
It was a well-organized and educational week. We got to see a lot of Malta. The students worked well together and learned from each other and the visit from the Human Rights Directorate was particularly interesting.
