Student Mobility (C5) Istanbul, Turkey 2/10-7/10 2022

Host School: YILDIZ AHMET ARAYICI ANADOLU LİSESİ-İSTANBUL

Participants from Metis: four students from Business vg1B, Alessandra Dayana Lup-Hansa and Business vg1 A, Nora Elisabeth Madell, Martin Eliassen Hodne and Noah Conrad Viken-Andreassen; as well as their teachers Roger Dennis Penã, Nina Mughal Kristiansen and Metis marketing manager Elise Sannes.

Collaboration theme: Promoting peace, respect and tolerance in inclusive societies.

Each partner school worked on different sub-topics and prepared a presentation to be shared in Istanbul.

The students from Metis worked on the following theme: Multicultural Diversity. They made a 10-minute film presenting Bergen as a multicultural city, as well as a Kahoot about multiculturalism in Bergen, which the others could take part in.

On the first day, the host school organized a full day at the school with Istanbul gifts for all participants, as well as presentations from each team and a variety of cultural experiences; homemade traditional Turkish food, Turkish music and dance.

Besides activities at the host school, the visitors were offered a rich program of cultural activities in the historic city of Istanbul:

1. Tour of a water treatment plant outside Istanbul

2. Boat to the European side of the city and walk through the old town and the Sultan's Palace:

1. Guided tour through the palace garden, the palace and the Blue Mosque

b. Free time to explore Hagia Sophia and the surrounding areas.

c. Some Metis students tried the local Hammam.

To sum up, a very enjoyable week, filled with new cultural experiences: smells, tastes, sights, traditions, music and dance.

Quality time with the other students was ensured by staying together in the same hotel. Very nice!
