Student Mobility (C6): Athens, Greece 27/11–2/12 – 2022

Host school: 4ο EPAL ATHINA

Participants from Metis: four students from Business vg2, Stephanie Hatland, Helene Berntsen, Maximilian Lindin, Jonathan Larsen and two teachers, Cathrine Olsen, Katrine Ness

Collaboration theme: Promoting citizenship education in schools to build inclusive societies.

Each partner school worked on different sub-topics and prepared a presentation to be shared in Athens.

The business students from Metis worked on the following subtopic:

“Young people have turned away from established forms of democratic participation. Why is this happening?”

After working on the topic in class, the students prepared the presentation to be presented in Athens: an interactive task in which they used the Curipod application and included history, statistics, etc.

The weather in Athens was bad, it rained worse than in Bergen – and we Norwegians got all the blame for the bad weather since it never rains in Athens.

Despite the bad weather, there was an opportunity for cultural activities:

1. Everyone took the bus to SOUNIO Archaeological Site https://www.visitgreece.gr/experiences/culture/archaeological-sites-and-monuments/the-archaeological-site-of-sounio/

2. Guided trip to ACROPOLIS and ANCIENT AGORA - it was fantastic - and the sun finally came out!

3. Lunch in the historic district of Monastiraki Plaka and the Greek students took all the visiting students to the famous market in Monastiraki.

4. Dinner at “MONOPATI” with live Greek folk music. Good food, nice company and dancing and fun for everyone!

5. As a souvenir to take home, the host school organized an art workshop where everyone was portrayed by art students.

It was a great trip, well organized by the Greek host school. The Metis students loved it as much as their teachers. Athens is a wonderful city; spectacular history and lots of things to see and do. New friendships were made and hopefully this transnational experience will inspire further work across borders.
