Learning, Teaching and Training (LTT) in Imperia, Italy 3-7 October 2022
Partners from Metis: Bård Inge, Andreas, Ann Kristin and Anbjørg
Day 1
What is mobile learning?
We were welcomed to the Italian school Liceo Statale GP Vieusseux by the principal.
Then a workshop on mobile learning by Dr Kevin Burden, University of Hull, who is an expert on mobile learning. He started by explaining the background of the concept of mobile learning. When the iPhone and the Padlet came, we got digital tools that could do the same thing as stationary PCs or Macs could, but without restrictions in time and space; we could take learning out of the classroom for example.
We use the iPac model to evaluate three important elements of mobile learning:
Personalization: customization and agency
Authenticity: context and task
Collaboration: conversation and cocreation: focus on dialogical process
We ended the day with a walking tour of the historic district of Imperia, with Davide, our host and partner in the Elmo project.
Day 2
Student activity Case Study 3 and iPac evaluation
Anbjørg presented the student activity (Case Study 3) Plastic Ocean, ebook (Book Creator). Kevin used this activity to demonstrate how to use the iPac model to evaluate such digital activities.
Bård Inge demonstrated the Curipod app, which is a good example of an interactive activity. The intention is to use Curipod for the digital student debate on sustainability.
Dr Kevin Burden lectured on innovative digital learning activities.
Day 3
Two students from the Italian school demonstrated how to organize a debate. These students participate in local and national debate competitions and we were inspired to try something similar at our school.
Then we showed each other the presentation videos “Case Study 3” we had made.

Day 4
Day trip to Genoa: City tour of this beautiful city with our Italian hosts, Davide and Emanuella as guides.
